Ring - Koji Suzuki This was something a little bit different for me. I haven't read any Japanese authors before, nor have I seen either of the film adaptations.

I found it quite an engrossing story based around an interesting idea but I would have preferred there to be left a little more room for ambiguity so that the supernatural explanation was not so heavy handedly forced upon the reader. The prose was functional and easy to read and the characters fairy interesting. Although I found the ramblings of Ryuji somewhat silly when I suspect they were intended to give the book more depth and be thought provoking.

Still, well worth reading despite it's flaws and I just may get around to exploring the sequels should the mood take me.
